Johnny Moss, III is a lifelong advocate for education, economic empowerment, and accountable leadership. A proud graduate of Tuskegee University, Johnny has dedicated his entire adult life to serving the Selma community as a teacher, communicator, board leader, and problem solver.
Johnny began his professional journey as a high school mathematics teacher at Selma High School, where he spent 10 years helping students master not just equations, but confidence, discipline, and critical thinking. His passion for education and mentorship shaped his commitment to young people, grounding his belief that real change begins with access and opportunity.
For the past 20 years, Johnny has served as the Director of Marketing & College Relations at Wallace Community College Selma (WCCS). In this role, he has led the college’s public outreach, student recruitment, and strategic communication efforts, helping thousands of students and families navigate their path to higher education, workforce training, and career success. His work has been instrumental in building partnerships across industry, education, and civic sectors to uplift the region.
In addition to his career in education, Johnny has served as an elected member and is currently the President of the Selma City School Board, a position he has held for over eight years. During his tenure, he helped guide the district out of state intervention, brought fiscal stability to its operations, and championed improvements in school governance, student support, and academic outcomes.
Johnny’s service extends across the broader community. He has held leadership roles on several boards, including:
• United Way of Selma and Dallas County
• Selma and Dallas County Chamber of Commerce (Past President)
• Selma Area Food Bank
• Vaughan Regional Medical Center Board of Directors
Johnny is also a licensed real estate professional, bringing a strong understanding of housing, blight, property values, and local development—key issues that intersect with Selma’s long-term growth.
Today, Johnny is running for Mayor of Selma to bring integrity, innovation, and results to City Hall. His campaign is built on a clear plan: to clean up our city, rebuild trust in local government, improve public safety, and create jobs and opportunities for all residents.
This is more than a political campaign—it’s a movement for renewal.
